Why are some kids bullies and others victims? How can kids stop attracting people that pick on them? If they do get picked on, what can they do to prevent being physically and emotionally hurt? Kid Safe: Bully & Stranger Danger is designed specifically for the self-empowerment of children - building confidence and self-esteem while teaching practical skills to prevent and deal with physical and emotional attacks. This class is invaluable for all children so they may establish life-long skills in dealing with fear and conflict

It is our belief that if children feel confident about themselves and know that they have the mental, emotional, verbal and physical skills needed to deal with potentially dangerous situations, they are less likely to become victims in the first place.

KID SAFE Overview:

Kid Safe is taught in a very supportive and empowering environment that uses focus, repetition and realistic role-playing scenarios that effectively help kids to learn, absorb and apply this invaluable information. There are four specific stages of safety that will be addressed:

Prevention through Awareness/Avoidance - Your child's ability to recognize danger is probably the most important aspect of personal safety. Therefore in this first stage kids will develop inner and outer awareness and avoidance strategies to help prevent an assault from ever happening.

Fear Management - The next stage addresses the fear that will naturally arise if a situation becomes threatening. Children will see how their specific body and mind reacts to fear. They will also learn practical and empowerment skills enabling them to find safety in a potentially dangerous situation.

Safety Plan - This phase teaches kids how to deal with a situation that has already become a conflict. Once the child determines that he/she is engaged in a threatening situation, there are simple tools enabling the child to execute a safety plan. These are learned through guided and insightful role-playing.

Physical Skills - Verbal and mental diffusing is always the preferred choice but knowing when to use physical self-defense skills is crucial, as well as key in building self-confidence. This final stage teaches kids the physical skills necessary to defend themselves. Through repetition, simple and effective self-defense techniques are taught and imprinted into the child's body, which become natural responses during an assault.
